You can choose between numerous routes described here right from our doorstep, whether you want to go for one or two hours or for the whole day.
…perhaps the recent award-winning “Premium Lahn Wanderweg” – sunny, Mediterranean-looking hill-sides, the romantic wilderness of “Ruppertsklamm” and the church of St Johannis at the confluence of the Lahn and the Rhine, are all attractive points on this route (16.5km, 4-5 hours on foot). You can then return comfortably to Bad Ems by train.
…or the entrance to the most visited hiking route in Germany, the “Rheinstieg”, particularly the stretch from Braubach via Lahnstein to Koblenz, with its beautiful views of the Marksburg castle and Ruppertsklamm. There are climbing ropes across rocky slopes, a waterfall and the Ehrenbreitstein fortress with views over the “Deutsches Eck”.
…or how about a guided donkey or llama tour – a great way to make hiking more enjoyable for the children.
